Send 2290 Brings Form 2290 E-Filing and the Schedule 1 to iPhone and Android
DETROIT, MI, UNITED STATES, October 20, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — Send 2290, an IRS-authorized e-file provider for IRS Form 2290, announced the availability of the free Send 2290 app for iPhone and Android. The app lets truckers e-file the federal Heavy Vehicle Use Tax (HVUT) return, pay the IRS, and download the IRS-stamped Schedule 1 without a laptop or a printer.
The industry’s main Form 2290 deadline passes each August 31, but HVUT filing continues all year. A heavy vehicle first used on public highways in any later month owes a prorated return by the last day of the following month. A truck first put on the road in October, for example, must be filed by November 30. These filings typically arrive at the worst possible moment: a newly purchased truck, a registration appointment, or a carrier waiting on paperwork.
The Send 2290 app runs the same filing flow as send2290.com, sized for a phone screen. That covers business details, vehicles, the tax calculation, IRS payment selection and transmission. After the IRS accepts the return, the stamped Schedule 1 is available to download as a PDF. That is the proof of payment state registration offices require, ready to show at the counter. It is also emailed to the filer and kept in the account.
“A truck doesn’t go into service on the IRS calendar,” said Sam Vlahos, HVUT Compliance Specialist at Send 2290. “Drivers buy a truck in October or February, and the filing follows them a month later, usually when they’re nowhere near a desk. The app means the whole filing, including the Schedule 1 the registration office asks for, happens on the phone that’s already in the cab.”
The app and the website share one account. Drafts, saved vehicles, filing history and past Schedule 1s sync between them, so a filing started on a laptop can be finished on a phone. The same protections apply wherever a return is filed: free VIN corrections, free resubmission of rejected returns, and email and text status updates. The app is free to download on the App Store and Google Play. The Send 2290 app is a convenience, never a requirement: the website works in any mobile browser.
